Day 19 & 20 – 8/20-8/21 Corvallis to Waldport
We spent a couple of days exploring Corvallis and surrounding back roads. Someone recommended I hike Fitton Green Natural Area and that’s where I got the shots of the mountain landscape and wild turkey – there were 8 of them in a field and while they were timid, I was able to photograph them as long as I wanted. The egrets were in Newport and the Belted Kingfisher and Great Blue Heron were in Waldport at the WB Nelson State Recreation Site. Other than the coyote, I feel like I finally got a few good photos on this trip. I knew there were kingfishers in the area because I saw one on a nearby powerline. The first time I waited and didn’t get much. This time I brought a chair and sat, and waited, and waited then bam! He flew close enough to get him with the telephoto lens. The Heron was bonus because I noticed him while I was tracking the kingfisher.

🐾 Jack’s Notes
I like this! – drive, hike, drive hike, drive, walk around town. Makes me wanna bark bark baby. Those naps in between the hikes while dreaming of all of the wonderful smells – Mike’s a good boy. Gonna let the photos drive this train.
