Day 26 – 8/27 Cannon Beach & Astoria

I drove almost three hours north to Cannon Beach to photograph Tufted Puffins at Haystack Rock. No luck. Even if they were there, it would have been a hard shot.

So…. Astoria

Just the Two of You?

The hostess said, “You have a cute dog.”
I asked if we could sit on the patio. “No, the patio is closed.”
She picked up two menus and asked, “Just the two of you?”
I looked at Jack and said, “Yes, just me an my dog.”
Then stepped from the stand and said, “Oh no, we don’t allow dogs.”
Seems like we could have skipped most of that as soon as she saw I had a dog and acknowledged him.

Ok, get this – we drove, and drove, and drove and went to the beach – yes, so worth it except: THERE IS A BEACH IN FRONT OF WHERE WE ARE STAYING! Ok… I’m ok – this beach had a giant rock called haystack rock and he wanted to take photos of Puffins. Spoiler: they are not as cute as me. Whatever; we walk on the beach – he doesn’t see any Puffins so guess what he does, no guess, one guess… Drives some more – to a place called Astoria. Well, we went to a restaurant that fn absolutely hates dogs (and gaslights humans). Now, from there we went to a place that loves dogs and makes delicious cheeseburgers – YES! After, we walked around for hours; oh, glorious day. Then, we drove and drove and drove back to the place with the beach – no worries, I napped.
